WHAT DOES THE PROJECT DO?

Spanish is the world's third most spoken language, after Chinese and English, and ranks second in terms of native speakers. At the end of the 19th Century, 60 million people were Spanish speakers. Today, nearly 500 million people across the world speak Spanish. This project will enhance your language skills, integrating you within a fast paced environment whereby your ability to communicate in Spanish will progress at an impressive rate.  Whether you want to improve your career prospects, make travel easier, or want access to the countless masterpieces that have been written in Spanish, then Frontier's Spanish language immersion programme is right for you.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

Your typical routine will involve waking up to the warm glow of sunshine and enjoying a typical Spanish breakfast! You will then head to the school, which will usually be a convenient 15 minute walk away, to begin your language tuition. The teaching staff within the school will be highly qualified native speakers, with a minimum of 3 years of experience, ensuring that you are receiving the highest quality of tutoring. Before starting the course you will be required to complete an online Spanish Language Level Test in order to assess your level of competence. This will allow the tutors to design the classes to meet your needs.

If you are a beginner, being taught by an experienced teacher will give you an excellent introduction to this elegant language, picking up on colloquialisms whilst mastering your pronunciation. In class exercises, reading, writing, and grammar will all be covered, ensuring that you grasp the fundamentals before moving on to more complex constructions and subjects as your confidence builds.

Out of the classroom you will be able to put your Spanish speaking into practice, exploring this culturally diverse town and conversing with the welcoming locals. Why not go to a jazz festival or visit the International Festival of Theatre? Seek out venues offering traditional music and dance, watch the wild rhythm of the gyspy flamenco and if you are feeling adventurous take the plunge and join one of the most famous schools to learn the art of Flamenco! Your language school organises a daily program of activities, consisting of cultural walks, visits to historical buildings and a range of interesting workshops.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ARRIVE?

You can reach the city of Granada by flying either to Malaga or Granada airport from where you will be able to transfer by taxi or public transport to your accommodation. During your placement you will be no more than 15 minutes walking distance from your home to the school.

WHERE WILL I BE STAYING?

You will have the choice of staying in a either a shared apartment with other language students or in a home stay with a welcoming local family. Both of these options are an additional cost to the course.

Shared apartments will be fully equipped with a kitchen (including washing machine), shared bathroom and a common area where you can socialise and share your experiences with fellow students. You will have your own bedroom which will be furnished with a bed, wardrobe and a desk.

If you chose to stay in the home stay, you will have your own room and will be provided with two or three meals a day. One load of washing per week is also included should this be required.

WHAT WILL I BE EATING?

Depending on your choice of accommodation, you will either be provided with meals during your stay (homestay), or you will have the chance to go out and experience all of the culinary delights the city of Granada has to offer (shared apartment). This gives you a great opportunity to practice your newly acquired Spanish vocabulary with the locals.

Spanish cuisine is world famous, with cutting edge chefs leading the world’s Michelin star establishments. Local cuisine is rich and relies on a wealth of fabulous local ingredients.

Flights

Flights are not included in our project costs. This travel specialist operates in the tailor-made, long haul multi-stop travel market, arranging complex airfares and transfers for independent travellers. They provide expertise, security and a vast product range along with a Travel Butler service which is a single point of contact and support whilst you are overseas.

We recommend that you obtain a quote using the following contact details rather than book online, as our partner will offer you the most competitive fares. To receive your quote or to seek any advice for your flights, please contact Frontier’s dedicated team of travel experts on 0800 082 9994 (or +44 800 082 9994 outside the UK) or email frontier@flightcentre.co.uk .

Visas

For fast, efficient and up-to-date visa advice please contact our recommended visa consultancy partner:

Depending on your destination country and your country of origin, you might require a visa. Please see the appropriate country consular website for details or contact our affiliate visa consultancy service. Please note that your visa will usually start on the date that you enter the destination country regardless of when it was issued. Please check with the relevant embassy or high commission. If you are purchasing your visa or paying entry/exit fees in-country you will probably need to pay in US Dollars. If you have any questions please consult the relevant embassy or high commission. Please check the visa information regularly, as changes often happen without warning.

Insurance

You'll need to buy appropriate travel insurance covering your participation on the project. You won't be able to go without the right travel insurance so double check to avoid disappointment. Please make sure that you're covered for the whole duration of your trip – from the day you leave the UK to the day you return. It's also best to get your travel insurance at the same time as paying the deposit for your project. Depending on your policy, this will cover you for any unexpected cancellations.

Your insurance should include the following:

  • Medical cover, including medical emergencies and medical evacuations (up to USD$3,000,000 / GBP£2,000,000);
  • Personal liability (up to USD$1,500,000 / GBP£1,000,000);
  • Cancellation and curtailment of your trip (up to the value of your project contribution).

If you are going to be scuba diving you should get coverage for scuba diving up to 30m, including hyperbaric therapy treatment (unlimited). You should consider obtaining insurance to cover you for any additional activities which you plan to do during, before, or after your Frontier project. We recommend that you obtain cover for your baggage and personal effects.
